Situated just beside a scenic beach, Pasar Moon is so named for the beautiful moonlit nights that one gets to experience here.
A project that focuses on an on-going process of a life towards self-sufficiency and low impact on the environment, Pasar sits on a once dilapidated compound. It was refurbished from scratch by Aki, Natsu and their friends since 2007, using found materials from the nearby sea and surrounding area. The result is a restriction-free place for outdoor camping, parties, concerts and exhibitions, and a gathering place for friends and visitors to share and create life and art.
Set in the prefecture of Shimane that is possibly one of Japan’s last uncommercialised area that is rich in traditional Japanese culture, Pasar is open everyday from May to September. It comprises Theatre Doraegon-Za for live events and concerts, Gallery Tane for art exhibitions, Bar Warung Jawa where a tropical Javanese bar is reproduced and Kougei Shop where hand dyed textiles and other souvenirs can be found. Visitors are also invited to camp outdoor in a tent or tepee, or stay in a private room or dormitory, and enjoy homemade food at Kitchen Nangoku Shokudo or drinks at Hatchimitsu Café. Events and workshops are also organized regularly. Please check our events calendar for more details.
We hope you will enjoy your experience at Pasar Mangetsu Kaigan, where the experience is out of this world.
At Pasar, we expect miracles, and hope you will experience them with us!
