Pasar means 'bazaar' or 'market' in Indonesian.
Mangetsu Kaigan means the beach at full moon in Japanese.
Together, Pasar Mangetsu Kaigan or Pasar Moon means a gathering place for friends and newcomers to share life and art.

Built entirely from scratch by Aki, Natsu, and a team of artists and friends in 2006, Pasar Moon started as a plot of abandoned land by the seaside in the small town of Misumi, in Shimane prefecture. Everything was recycled or built by hand from found or discarded materials, such as bamboo, clay, and wood from demolished houses.
It is now an ethical lifestyle community comprising a summer space for the annual Pasar Full Moon Festival in August, live events and music, as well as a cafe and coffee roaster.
Pasar Moon is located in the town of Misumi, Shimane prefecture, about a 20-minute walk from the Mihomisumi JR train station. It is also an hour and a half away from the historical town of Tsuwano and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Iwami Ginzan.
From May to October, we accept volunteers who would like to share our way of life. Please email info@pasarmoon.org to get in touch.
